SPANISH RADIO ACADEMY AWARDS, SPONSORED BY AEQ

Peter Howarth, AEQ USA Office Manager, awarded the Spanish Radio Academy to “Actualidad 1040 AM” and 990 ESP Sports last February 13rd, during the celebration of the International Radio Day, established by the UNESCO. This is the second year that AEQ sponsors this prize, awarded by the Spanish Radio Academy.

The Radio Academy acknowledges that these stations deserve the prize due to their compromise in the endorsement of radio as the fundamental way of communication with their listeners, also highlighting their informative, educational and entertaining labor directed to an increasing Latin and Hispanic audience.

WURN (1040 AM) is a radio station with Talk Show format in Spanish language. It was initially licensed in Boynton Beach, Florida, although less than two years ago they moved their license to Miami, increasing its broadcasting power to 50KW during the day and 5KW overnight.

WMYM (990 AM) broadcasts sports programs by ESPN Sports Radio in the Miami area. As a technical curiosity, they emit 5KW, delivered to a very special radiating system with 6 towers in parallelogram arrangement in order to focus its power in Miami and avoiding interference to a neighbor station in Pompano Beach, broadcasting at a frequency of 980 kHz.
